Yes. I already tried something, but it didnt convinced me.
A real automake setup would ease the work, we would just run something
like  mkdir foo; cd foo; ../configure --options; make to get it build
completly in that subdirectory. Unfortunately it has no automake, just
autoconf, so it breaks after the configure script as configure knows
what todo, but the makefiles not. :()

Well, the optimization is one part of the cleanup we are doing. :)
