No, that would be a NMU number and noone of us needs to NMU, we are all
in Uploaders (Maintainer is this list).
We simply increment the number when we start with the next version after
an upload and keep that number until it is uploaded.
And everyone simply adds changelog entries to this one version, with his
name and stuff like i mentioned in the first mail.

If you mean debian/rules and stuff - yes, they do need it.

We (ok, except you, that will follow with the next commit) are in
Uploaders, so no, its not what its going on. :)
