Side-note: did you get PNP configured and running with nginx? If so,
could you please provide the necessary configuration files and a short
description about which steps are required to get it running? I will
then include that in the package as well and let the package
automatically configure nginx if possible.

Thanks for reporting this. With this E-mail, I've submitted a bug to the
Debian BTS.

I'll fix the issue with the next upload to unstable.
