Neither shows any output.
> PS: did you somehow mess up your debconf database in the past?
Merely its cache, by a wholesale deletion of /var/cache/, as allowed by the
Policy in a "must" clause. I did not mess with debconf in any other way
(nor even specifically targetted it).
