I guess all that installing, reinstalling, compiling screwed everything up.

I am in the process of removing anything ldap related on the system.
After that, I'll install the package again and see what happens.

I have already come across one problem though.  I cannot remove
libldap2 2.1.30-13.4 because many things depend on it.  It is listed
as OpenLDAP libraries.  There is also a libldap-2.3-0 2.3.35-2 which I
was able to remove (so I can install it again).
