There are no 2.3 packages in Debian.  It would be nice to get to 2.4.11
for the lenny release instead of 2.4.10 (I personally don't have any time
to work on that, though).

Er, why?  It's the standard dump and restore upgrade path that slapd
always has, so far as I can see.

The OpenLDAP developers recommended that 4.6 be built in a particular way
to be safe with slapd.  I don't believe that the version of the package in
Debian is built that way.
