I suspect that the error is being produced due to a version mismatch
between the libsasl glue library and the internal (to openldap) slapd
auxprop plugin.

 From a quick glance, these two patches might be at play:

openldap-2.4.25/debian/patches/do-not-second-guess-sonames
cyrus-sasl2-2.1.24~rc1.dfsg1+cvs2011-05-23/debian/patches/0001_versioned_symbols.diff
