Indeed. And instead of them trying to improve the situation, it looks like
they're becoming more actively hostile and vocal about it.

I want to help if that would help. I've mostly stayed silent because I
gathered it wouldn't improve the situation if I were to speak out.
Let me know if and how I can help, and I will do it.

I have a huge amount of respect of the work that you (and hefee) have done on
packaging owncloud. I've now started to take my first (baby) steps regarding
maintaining packages and it's very likely that I'll use your work as an
example on how to do things myself.
That, and the huge respect I have for Debian as a whole is the reason I'm
learning about and setting up my machines to best assist you in that,
including a way to upgrade from the current stable to the next. That also
includes the willingness to write a special program which could do that.

Having said that, I have no trust in upstream owncloud code and haven't for a
long time. I don't know how many times I've lost data while testing owncloud,
but it is a LOT. And ALL those issues were simple to replicate with a pure
upstream owncloud system, as I had a VM for that as well.

Given the hostility of owncloud to any downstream project/distro and that
their stance seems to be getting worse instead of (intention for getting)
better over time, I'm afraid that abandoning owncloud becomes unavoidable.

Regards,
  Diederik
