[Pkg-pascal-devel] No MariaDB support in FPC in Debian stable

Please CC me I'm not subscribed.

It appears that there is no MariaDB support in FPC in Debian stable.

But since Mysql was replaced by MariaDB in the stable distro it means
there is no working database support for Lazarus/FPC apps in stable.

This has completely broken applications like cqrlog and has left users
with a badly broken system and effectively a lost database after
upgrading to the latest release.

Can someone please explain how/why this happened and what the team are
doing to get it fixed?

fpc-3.0.x is in Ubuntu 16.04 but the FPC packages in Ubuntu have MariaDB
support build-in, why don't the Debian ones?

I'm happy to file a bug about this, but would appreciate some guidance
on which of the fpc packages it should be aimed at.

regards, Colin
