I just read it and found it a pity the way the ticket was closed. Just like many
tickets on Debian get closed because someone felt he don't like to do it.
I would liked if you escalated this to the TC to see what they think. But, maybe
not worth the flame.

As I read the ticket you mentioned, I realized that many packages including
Lazarus and CGE have to be modified.
This is just like an API change and may cause unexpected FTBFS.

Do you agree that we should ask for TC advise here?
