/Yes, we had discussed it a bit in #967798, it is an issue in Lazarus:
fp-units-gtk2-3.2.0 used to have the libgtk2.0-dev dependency, but
fp-units-gtk2-3.2.2 doesn't any more, *but it should*, it shouldn't be
up to users of the gtk2 unit to know which C dependency it should take./

I disagree (in my ignorance). If Lazarus has a dependency (and it does)
on libgtk2.0-dev then its Lazarus that should be marked as having that
dependency, not FPC.

We tell Lazarus users they must install libgtk2.0-dev before building
Lazarus here
-https://wiki.freepascal.org/Installing_Lazarus_on_Linux#Build_Lazarus_from_Source
(disclaimer, its not an independent reference, I wrote it).

The same should apply to GTK2 based apps not using Lazarus (maybe Castle
Game Engine ?), if you want to use the GTK2 widget set, install its -dev
package.

Sorry if I am butting into space above my grade, concerned to see
downstream packages threatened.
