I have a backport of darktable 1.4.1 ready to upload
git://anonscm.debian.org/pkg-phototools/darktable.git
branch wheezy-backports
I'm far away from my wheezy machine right now, so if you could test it
out, that would be great.
Since, as you noted, libflickcurl is not in wheezy backports (yet), my
version doesn't depend on it.
I'm afraid I'm too behind with other things to take on another package,
even a backport, but maybe Kumar Appaiah <akumar at debian.org> would be
willing to upload a backport.
I had a quick look at your backport, and just FYI most (all?) sponsors
will require discussion of what changes were done for the backport in
the changelog.
