backporting this package was as straight as darktable itself.

I only have backported libflickcurl and renamed the required library
libgphoto2-dev to libgphoto2-2-dev. I've done the backport 2 weeks ago,
so I hope I remember this detail correctly.

By the way... Do I have to add a NMU notice to the changelog for
backports too?
