It looks like you’re a bit too late. Even if the current [freeze] policy 
currently allows “No large/disruptive changes”, this package won’t 
migrate to testing before 2021-01-12 (no autopkgtest bounty). The Soft 
Freeze starting on 2021-02-12 allows “Only small, targeted fixes”. A new 
upstream version doesn’t qualify.
