This is type of thing probably best reported in the future as an issue
in the debian BTS (e.g. using the "reportbug" tool to file the issue).
that ensures that we can keep track of it.

The changes that you're asking for make sense to me, and i've gone ahead
and implemented them in debian, and have uploaded 0.6.1-5 (with a bit
more cleanup of the debian packaging as well).

In the course of doing this, i noticed that the debian packaging Vcs on
salsa was in a bit of a messy state.  to fix the worst problems, i did
two things:

 * i refreshed the pristine-tar delta for 0.6.1 -- i don't know why it
   was wrong earlier.

 * i merged the "upstream" branch into the "master" branch -- "master"
   had only merged 0.6, and not 0.6.1 for some reason.

It now builds fine via gbp buildpackage, at least.
