You should not disable installation of Recommends without careful
consideration. They are there for a reason.

Hmm. Looks like there isn't much gain from the split: pulseaudio
depends on the X11 stack (which wasn't the case when the split was
made), so there is not much point in splitting the X11 module into a
separate package.
