Indeed, AR-based storedconfigs have gone away in Puppet 4, together with 
all Rails-related code and I doubt there's a viable way of bringing them 
back. The original reason for this patch was to make sure Wheezy users 
could upgrade to Jessie and still have functional stored configs and 
exported resources, since this was easy to get working. However this 
seems to be impossible (at least with my time and resources) to get 
working with Puppet 4, so I think we should focus on PuppetDB instead.
