Hi Apollon, thank you for writing - I still have your gpg key and email paper from Berlin as a reminder, but you beat me to it! 

To answer your question, the 4.x server -> 3.x agent compatibility layer a service built into the puppetserver only, so Ruby puppet masters won't be compatible across the major version boundary. 

Is there something we can do in the future to help the clojure toolchain situation? It'd be great to have the user experience and tech stack from the debian repos as close to our upstream/vendor repositories as possible.
