[DRE-maint] Bug#971585: Request for help with diaspora package

Hi,

I have been able to package almost all dependencies of diaspora 
(compass and sass gems had to be embedded because they are no longer 
supported upstream and their debian packages got removed from the 
archive) and now facing a tough ui bug (no error during 
build/assets:precompile). Details of the issue in the bug copied here.

Any clues as to what could be causing the issue would be helpful. 
Earlier some of the asset packages had broken builds, they were found 
as errors during rake assets:precompile step and fixed. Some more 
errors were found in browser console and fixed, there is no error shown 
in browser console this time.

Fixing this issue will help us include diaspora in FreedomBox too.
