I think it's more complicated than a boolean "is this important yes/no".
Some users definitely have very valid reasons to be interested in saving
every kilobyte, but this is also taking away limited contributor time
that could be spent in other ways.

For example, Arch Linux currently ships quite a few popular programs for
rust development that are still missing in Debian, and it's not too
uncommon that rust software has `pacman -S` install instructions for
Arch, `brew install` for MacOS and "git clone the repository and run
cargo install" for Debian. I'd rather focus on getting Debian on par
and I think a lot of Debian users feel the same.
