Samba relies on tdb as a core part of everything we do. It is as you
know shipped with every Samba version, and is fully supported therein.

New developments in tdb in recent times include transaction support, and
it is the basis of ldb, Samba4's database layer. As such, it is not
only being maintained, it is being extended.

both tdb and ldb have Makefiles intended for external consumption
shipped standard, and tdb builds from this makefile on the build farm.

As I understand it, the main deviation this package (and it's sf.net
upstream) takes from the tdb we supply is the inclusion of a libtool
script. (We build just a single .o file, and the tools).
