We did a little bit of investigation at the BSP and came to the
conclusion that while it is formally (reading various standards) correct
that checkbashism warns in this case, we couldn't find an actual shell
that broke because of this bug. Furthermore, this is in a code path is
part of an option to a rarely used shell script.
With my upstream hat on, I would rather avoid putting this in since we
don't use printf in any of our other shell scripts.
Cheers,
Jelmer
