I see.  So the real question would be:  Why does my eth0 have an ipv6 
address, even though I don't (want to) use ivp6 on my LAN, and my ISP 
doesn't support it?  Maybe I should disable the ipv6 kernel module.
Of course, all this has nothing to do with Samba.  Thank you for the
