I go to the trunk, I copy the orig.tar.bz2 file in the directory above
it and then I run:

pdebuild --pbuilder cowbuilder -- --basepath /var/cache/pbuilder/base.cow --distribution sid

So, pretty the same than running "debuild".

These manual action are *not* optimal, I know (for instance, I could
never get the good out of svn-buildpackage, mostly by ignorance) and
probably the cause of some mistakes I'm doing from time to time. Well,
that's my course of action and you can't make old persons change their
habits..:-)

The history of the package is probably hectic anyway (for instance, we
started imported upstream source only 1 or 2 years ago), so I'm unsure
about the real benefit we could get from some very old history. The
important history to keep is certainly what we have since we began
importing usptream source (an initiative by you, Steve...which was a
great push to something more efficient).

It might take time anyway as it certainly requires you to find enough
time to work on this and I can guess that it could be unlikely this
hgappens before several weeks unless you quit from Canonical..:-)
