I assume that in practice, the main problem is that anyone searching
with "apt-cache search NetBIOS" is not going to find the package.
Also the description does not mention what pam_winbind and nss_winbind
from the libpam-winbind package are plugins for (hint: it's not samba,
and in the latter case it's not PAM).

How about something like this, to start:

Before:

 Samba is an implementation of the SMB/CIFS protocol [...]
 .
 This package provides pam_winbind and nss_winbind, plugins that integrate
 with a local winbindd server to provide Windows domain authentication and
 user/group name lookups to the system; and nss_wins, which provides
 hostname lookups via the WINS and NBNS protocols.

After:

 This package provides pam_winbind and nss_winbind, which allow a local
 winbindd server to provide Windows domain authentication and user and
 group name lookups for the system; and nss_wins, which allows local
 users to transparently use a NetBIOS Name Service (NBNS) server such
 as WINS to resolve hostnames.
