Yeah, it is because samba wasn't there at that time. I guess but read on..

... and this appears to be right to the point:

  autopkgtest for backuppc/4.4.0-5: amd64: Regression ...

And yes, the early-today version which worked is 4.4.0-6.

I didn't notice this very detail, I did think it is the same
version of backuppc.  So hopefully everything will be okay
the next run of autopkgtests.
