What's the best way to do that?

Yesterday I had to create two local-upstream branches to be able to
import with "git-import-orig", like this:
  git checkout -b upstream --track origin/upstream

After doing that, I could push without parameters and the commits were
uploaded, and then:
  git push origin debian/1.2.8-1 upstream/1.2.8
to include the new tags that I had created.

Do I have to do the same for pristine-tar remote branch, or is it too
late now after importing?

Cheers.

PS: Upstream liked a few of the bug reports/forwarded patches that I
submitted, so we both fix upstream and don't have to bother to sync
patches every release, yay! Some of them were nasty bugs (still to be
fixed) or even basic things like ARM support and proper data alignment
for SDL net.
