(removing Joerg in subsequent answers is probably a good iea unless he
explicitely requests to be still CC'ed to exchanges....Michael, as
coreutils maintainer, can still be kept)

Quoting Jari Aalto (jari.aalto at cante.net):

I'm afraid we (shadow package maintenance team, where the login binary
package comes from) missed it.

Could you elaborate on the nologin package so that we say how we are
or might be involved with nologin ?

Currently, the shadow team focuses on resynchronization with
upstream. Debian currently has shadow 4.0.3 in unstable (and stable)
while upstream has reached 4.0.12 with many changes.

We are quite close to send 4.0.12 in unstable. The former release,
4.0.11.1, was sent to experimental and still sits there. So will
4.0.12-1 soon.

So, we currently have not that much areas we can divert our attention
to, but of course, new people are very welcomed in the team. I (as the
team "leader") have adopted a very opened policy to welcome new
competences in the team (currently made of 4 very active people, one
more less active but being ready just in case, and a few lurkers
waiting for the time they'll feel ready to contribute).

So, let's just talk about all this as you want, of course. The team's
address is pkg-shadow-devel at lists.alioth.debian.org (opened posting).
