I've also seen that some messages were directly sent to syslog by calling
syslog. There is a SYSLOG macro which saves the locale, sets the locale to
C, sends the message and restores the locale. This permits to avoid having
localized time (like "Aoû 01 xx:xx:xx").

Tomasz, a patch for your CVS is attached.

Note for Debian: I did not added a patch for this issue. We can probably
wait the merge.

A system could differentiate the locale set in /etc/environment (or
anywhere else) from the locale set by the user. It could be interresting,
but I don't see it coming soon.
BTW, the SYSLOG macro will be perfect to solve this issue.
