[Pkg-shadow-devel] Bug#360179: passwd: useradd creates home directories owned by root by default

Fri Mar 31 05:01:19 UTC 2006

Package: passwd
Severity: important

Quoting Dalibor Straka (dast at panelnet.cz):

> useradd.c is missing one line in
>     static void create_home (void)
>         chown (user_home, user_id, user_gid);
> It creates a directory always owned by root. Is that what we want?

Never noticed that as I use Debian's adduser but this is pretty much
weird to me, yes.

Let's officially open a bug (this is what you'd better have done but
thanks anyway for reporting). I even give this an important severity.

Dalibor, I'll assign you as bug submitter, as soon as I'll receive the
bug number, if you don't mind

Nicolas, Tomasz? Advices? Please better wait for the official bug
number and answer to it.
