I would certainly encourage you to apply for DM status once you have a few
packages in the archive (that may already be the case), since it makes it
much easier to delegate responsibility for packages.  We can always use
more DDs, so that would be great as well, but it's usually best to be a DM
for a while and establish a track record of uploads to the archive.
