I got into it with Boris after I told the macports guys to deprecate Xerces, and I decided to pull out there as of this July actually.

I still need Xerces for longer than that, but he said he would take over, so I am taking him at this word.

If that doesn't happen, I will likely fork Xerces as I did xml-security (likely including renaming the artifact). But it will be several years more before the old SP is actually sunset. Probably 2028 at the earliest.

Deprecating everything else is a no-brainer, but Xerces...basically one has to determine if you think they'll maintain it any better for the next ten years than they have the previous ten. Personally I am skeptical.
