Michael, I don't know how to respond to this. It was mentioned that size 
increase we are talking about is only 380k (uncompressed) which is 1/3 of a 
floppy disk. Seriously? How can this be a concern these days in 2016?

This is exactly why this feature was requested -- to make use of it.
Would you be as reluctant to enable this systemd feature if GNOME gained 
dependency on it?

Here is one: these days containers are obviously useful and important 
technology. 
Good support for containers is strategically important for Debian success.
Isn't that enough?

I expected more cooperation on this matter. Since this bug was opened over 6 
weeks ago there were several uploads of systemd but this problem was not 
addressed and "rkt" remained unusable all this time so I am very 
disappointed.

I've spent months packaging "rkt" and its dependency chains so indeed it 
would be very sad if we had to request its removal.

Please, pretty please address the issue ASAP or provide time frame for 
decision to be made... We shouldn't let packages to be broken for so long.
