This is mostly unrelated to this issue.
I just find it confusing to have the service named the same although
it's a different piece of software (in this case a fork).

Imagine if rsyslog (which was originally a fork of sysklogd) kept the
name of the init script as /etc/init.d/sysklogd. Wouldn't you find that
confusing as well?
