I'm in the final stages of testing a new version of sysvinit.  I would
very much welcome test reports, and it would speed up the upload
significantly.  The subversion repository is available from

  svn+ssh://svn.debian.org/svn/pkg-sysvinit/sysvinit/trunk

Please let me know if it work for you.  I did a test boot with usplash
today, and found and fixed a fatal bug.  I got a successful test
report earlier for a test without usplash, so I hope that scenario
work as it should.  I see something wrong with the shutdown progress
bar with usplash, but have not yet figured out what is wrong.
