Assuming swap = 2×RAM, one should get 3× the original tmpfs size with
these changes.  I'm sure this won't satisfy all requirements, but it's
a step in the right direction.  Sorry if this implied it was not all
in the original report--this was a generic mail for all of the merged
reports about the issue.

Agreed, but I wasn't sure how to best satisfy all the conflicting
demands here.  Quite a few people argued that the original RAMRUN
and RAMLOCK settings should not have been repurposed, and that
new settings should be created instead due to them being
semantically different.  The other settings were also all in
tmpfs rather than rcS, so moving them satisfied the first demand
as well as moving all the settings into a single logical place.
For squeeze upgrades, it will be all documented in NEWS.Debian
and the release notes; testing/unstable users will unfortunately
need to manually update their settings (unless it's OK to move
over the settings in the postinst, but it would mean editing a
conffile).
