I also planned an NMU to sysvinit, and have just committed my changes
to the git master branch.  As it looks like your changes are also
ready, could you merge them to master and then upload?

Note that sysvinit no longer has any active maintainers (at least, none
that consider themselves so), so don't expect much response from that
side.
