[Pkg-telepathy-maintainers] Bug#755750: empathy: Missing menu in 'Contacts List'; incorrect application of Unity-specific change?

There is no way to perform actions previously performed from the 'Contact List' menu because the
top menu bar no longer displays.  This is perhaps because of incorrect application of changes
from Ubuntu for Unity (where the menus appear in the top bar instead of in individual application
menus) or a missing dependency (I've seen some mention of a notification or messaging icon that
should be in the status bar that I do not have).
