Installing network-manager on a box with / on NFS brings down the primary
network interface, rendering the root file system inaccessible. I had to
manually disable /etc/init.d/network-manager (from the NFS server) to
get it to boot again.

My intention for NetworkManager was to have it manage the "secondary"
network interfaces, i.e. WLAN.
