Please post your complete /etc/network/interfaces and
/etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf file.
I tested with the following file:
/etc/network/interfaces:
===
auto lo
iface lo inet loopback
iface eth0 inet manual
===
/etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf
===
[main]
plugins=ifupdown,keyfile
[ifupdown]
managed=false
===
Then I ran NetworkManager --no-daemon:
...
NetworkManager[31763]: SCPlugin-Ifupdown: init!
NetworkManager[31763]: SCPlugin-Ifupdown: update_system_hostname
NetworkManager[31763]: SCPluginIfupdown: guessed connection type (eth0) =
