Uploaded to experimental as 1.16.2-6. That version should be OK for 
mainstream architectures, but has a known FTBFS on architectures without 
valgrind (unrelated to init systems, part of the debhelper 14 compat 
bump); the next upload should fix that for linux-any, and Hurd might 
need more followups after I see a buildd log.

Please open a bug if there's anything else in this that is unsuitable 
for the next upload to unstable, or if there are other non-systemd 
implementations of user bus integration glue that should be added to the 
alternatives list.

For the future: yes, if you want a patch to stay on my to-do list, 
please open a bug or MR. Sending a MR URL to a bug that is tagged +patch 
(or a new wishlist bug if there isn't already a relevant feature request 
or bug report) is often the best way to make sure it's visible to any 
team member who looks.

If you're attaching patches to a bug or email rather than using MRs, 
output from `git format-patch` is preferable: `git am` can apply that 
directly, unlike `git show` output which has to be applied with 
patch(1), `git commit --author --date` and copy/paste.
