This is already possible. Take a look at /etc/vdr/keymacros.conf.
e.g.:

User1    @osdteletext

... will start the plugin when user key #1 is pressed.


Osdteletext already uses these keys for user customizable functions.

I think, the fasttext behaviour should be configurable for the color
keys. But because this is a rather large change (regarding the impact on
the functionality) to the upstream version, I don't want to add this
patch to the Debian package.

So it's up to Marcel to decide, if this functionality becomes part of
osdteletext.
