It seems reading the code that the option is available with the -r
command line. You can find the code in the config.c file, ProcessARGs
method.

the default remote_mode = 0 is set line:337.
listen_port is set to 37890 by default.

the default is not compatible with the -r option logic (set to zero if
none is givent instead use the default port and if this port is
non-zero set remote to 1)

so with a listen_port set to 32890, remote_mode must be 1 instead of 0;

can you add a dpatch to your package and send it to the upstream ?
