Should the plugins build-depend on awk?

Hi,

sorry for the late answer, i am pretty busy atm, so i could not look
at this earlier.

Well, the package mawk has Priority: required which means that a
Essential package depends on it. So at least mawk should be installed
on every Debian System, which means that this build dependency should 
not be necessary on a System running Debian.

I understand that it is a problem if Ubuntu does not install awk by
default, in this case it should not hurt if we add awk to the
build-dependencies.
