It seems this bug only manifests when MODULE_LOC is pointed somewhere other
than /usr/src/modules.  That's a common use case, but not the primary one;
so I don't think this bug can be considered release-critical.  (It's
definitely not serious in any case, unless the maintainers say they think it
makes the package unsuitable for release; and it's not grave since the
workaround is to use /usr/src.)

So, downgrading to important.

If you're using make-kpkg, applying Tzafrir's patch should be a viable
workaround.
