Debian 'stable' version of Asterisk

I would greatly appreciate assistance with the following questions:

(1) When will Asterisk 1.0.9 become the Debian 'stable' version?

(2) If (1) is still many weeks off, is it possible for me to run the
'testing' version of Asterisk without converting my entire Debian system
from 'stable' to 'testing'?  What arguments do I give to apt-get or dpkg
to do this?
