Anybody please re-post Manty's text to comment on ;-)

I'm afraid that if we go for our well proven shared libs, we will not easily
integrate tipic's Echo Cancellation patch. I'm still not sure how this horror
works within kiax/lib/, but it basically has a special version of portaudio
(v18) which gets preprecessored by iaxc_preprocessor.c. The files under
lib/aec_nlms are also used if found to be available but I deleted them along
with lib/iLBC/ because of no license information (for the former) and
non-DFSG compliance (for the last). The rest in kiax's lib/ is LGPL'ed. I
guess this is the maximum DFSG-compliant code we can have. Also special
versions of libspeex and libiax2 is used.

I do not like to approach to mess with our library packages, so let the mess
be in kiax only.

Also a good reference is IAXClient by Tipic:

Unfortunately no license or contact information could be found within the
tarball. Documentation is also missing.

I'm fine with both, but went after Echo Cancellation because of Manty's wish
to have it there.
