status of t38modem

Hi there,

I've been trying to get working t38modem but

- t38modem is using CONFIG_LEGACY_PTYS which is now disabled in default 
debian kernel (2.6.22).
- t38modem debian package is a very old one (0.8.0 packaged 2006-04-16) 
which don't really support last version of openh323 in sid.
- Where can I find some explaination to configure a cisco router to use it ?

Is it planned to package the last version (0.8.4) ?

If not, is there an open source equivalent which can work with a Cisco 
router ?
