It wasn't meant to be personal, sorry if you took it that way. I'm
seeing way too much trivial bugs on pkg-voip packages that result from
insufficient testing, especially regression-testing, and these bugs
become hard to fix afterwards - a botched maintainer script isn't
always easy to fix.

As you've seen with asterisk-perl, when a package "rots" in SVN for
years there's usually a good reason for that, so be careful :)
