...but don't tear down the walls of that home: My use of CDBS is 
deliberate - I intend to migrate away from it, but not all functionality 
that I have come to rely on has equivalents in debhelper.

If something in particular is in the way of your working comfortably 
with the package then please tell me (me understanding particular 
nuisances of CDBS - not only as a general concept - also helps smoothing 
my transition of the 500+ other packages I am involved in).

Right, it was the XMPP team debacle proposed to move this to.

I am sure XMPP team is a nice team, but expect it to me different in 
various - possibly minor only - ways, and am personally unable to 
mentally handle any more teams currently.  When done transitioning 500+ 
packages from Alioth to Salsa, spread across numerous teams, then I will 
reconsider, but feel quite overloaded now.  Sorry.
